BAY AREA RADIO DRAMA

Erik Bauersfeld documents his years as a radio drama producer, writer, director, performer and originator of many widely varied projects of drama and the acoustical arts. Beginning in 1961, at the new visionary non-commercial Pacifica radio station KPFA in Berkeley, he learned some of the basic production and performing skills. He became director of Drama and Literature and remained so for thirty years. During that time he formed his non-profit foundation BARD. New projects were funded by the National Endowments, NPR, and other national and international sources. What follows is the course of this history, with notes on the radio-audio work that Bauersfeld originated and participated in.
