ONE OF THESE DAYS (or nights)

by Lawrence Ferlinghetti

A man and his dog wander on a mountain top observing its solitude and the worldly disasters below. Visions of Paradiso are shattered by gunfire and explosions. Nightingales compete with aircraft. A "wave of radiance" becomes an oceanic tidal wave that sweeps across the world. The poet envisions apocalyptic disasters by fire and water that clear the earth for a new beginning. Following the play Lawrence Ferlinghetti, discusses the production at one of his favorite locations, the San Francisco Farmers' market.
