Ken Heller

A Life : Bloodied but Unbowed

Began writing musical arrangements and original compositions for the high school band and orchestra where he also began conducting the school instrumental ensembles in concert.  Attended USC and CSU Fullerton as a music composition major and studied  composition with Donal Michalski and conducting with Hans Beer and  Daniel Lewis.

Entered Cal Arts on a graduate scholarship in electronic music from Morton Subotnick.  Worked two years as a graduate teaching assistant in the theater department under the direction of Herbert Blau while majoring in the multimedia department with emphasis in electronic environments, electronic music, and audio-tape technology. Conducted the Cal Arts Brass ensemble  and New Music ensemble in concerts over a period of three years. Wrote music for several Cal Arts theater ensemble productions and at the same time created electronic ballet scores for the UCLA ballet company’s Carol Scothorn and Pia Gilbert.

Worked as composer and radio producer in the bay area as staff producer at both Different Fur Music and Broadcast Productions in San Francisco. Composed and produced TV scores and contributed to BARD’s Radio Arts Project. Wrote and produced original instrumental album "Sky Light" and joined the staff of NBC-TV/Corday Productions "Days of Our Lives" as music director and has scored various TV shows.

Currently creating multimedia content for iPad distribution.
