HELEN CLINE: THE SOUL OF A BELL

by Randy Thom

Poet Helen Cline, accompanied by her guide dog, was recorded by Sound Designer Randy Thom at one of her regular locations, a Berkeley super market. Recorded during her eightieth year, she tells how she finds her way in an acutely perceived but sightless world. We glimpse her long life, the raising of five children, her college studies and her current struggles with writing on a computer. At Skywalker Ranch she visits the domestic animal farm and recalls her own rural childhood and love of animals. These elements, along with her poetry were composed by Randy Thom into a portrait of this remarkable woman and writer.
